The Last American Virgin (Boaz Davidson, 1982)

Pretty much an exact scene-for-scene remake of Lemon Popsicle, this version leaves out any pretense of being serious and plays it completely goofy from the get-go, incidentally losing some of its resonance and charm. That said, it more than redeems itself with its bright color palette, the appearance of Kimmy “Lucy Moran” Robertson and blazing New Wave rock soundtrack, obligatory of the 80’s. The middle-class Israeli kids are transformed into rich California kids with too much disposable income but otherwise, everything is exactly the same - including the devastating ending, which - unlike a lot of films of that cycle - hits much closer to home in proving that nice guys always finish last.
